President Bola Tinubu returned to the country on Tuesday evening following a four-week working holiday in Europe.

The presidential aircraft touched down at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos after departing Paris, France, earlier in the afternoon.

According to Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the President deliberately routed his return through Lagos to honor the legacy of the late Chief MKO Abiola, the celebrated martyr of Nigeria’s democratic struggle.

As part of the Independence Day activities, President Tinubu is scheduled to attend the premiere of a movie honoring Abiola—the historic winner of the June 12, 1993, presidential election—at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.
