OGBOMOSO — Tension gripped residents of Ogbomoso on Tuesday night as unidentified gunmen launched a daring raid on the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) command office along the Ogbomoso–Ilorin expressway, disarming personnel on duty and carting away service firearms. The well-coordinated assault occurred at approximately 10:00 p.m., striking the facility located near the NNPC Filling Station and the bustling Ayanyan Cattle Market. THENEWSCREDIT reports that the attackers took advantage of the cover of night and the noisy, crowded atmosphere of the nearby cattle market to catch the officers off guard. The criminals successfully overpowered the security detail, seized an unspecified number of weapons, and vanished into the darkness before a reinforcement could arrive. While no casualties or abductions were recorded during the operation, the breach has sparked fresh anxieties over the safety of security formations in the area. When contacted on Wednesday morning, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Oyo State Command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, stated that the command had not yet been officially briefed on the incident. Security agencies have reportedly intensified patrols along the expressway axis as investigations begin into the security breach.
