Human rights activist and Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore, has called out President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the arrest of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi. In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Sowore alleged that the arrest of the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) is a high-level official cover-up rather than a genuine search for the truth. He insisted that if federal authorities were truly committed to justice, the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, would already be under arrest and investigation.

Sowore pointed out a series of highly suspicious events that suggest a deliberate attempt to shield top political figures from scrutiny. According to the activist, the key proxy alleged to have collected the ₦400 million bribe on behalf of Gbajabiamila died under mysterious circumstances. Adding to the gravity of the situation, the hotel complex cited as the venue for the multimillion-naira cash exchange was abruptly demolished, effectively wiping out vital physical evidence.

The former presidential candidate described these events as a textbook case of obstruction of justice by the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration. While law enforcement agents aggressively hunted down Adeyemi following a federal court`s bench warrant, the high-ranking government official accused of demanding a 48% cut of a ₦27.4 billion take-off grant remains untouched. Sowore also strongly condemned the heavy-handed tactics used by the state, including the controversial "substituted arrest" of Adeyemi’s elderly father in Ogbomoso.

The activist tackled the Presidency’s defense, which continues to dismiss the PFIPC as a completely "fake" or "fictitious" agency to distance itself from the scandal. Sowore argued that this narrative falls flat when faced with official government realities. He noted that a completely phantom entity could not have secured physical office space within the high-security Federal Secretariat without inside help from the highest levels of government.

Furthermore, the agency`s operations went far beyond mere local fraud, raising serious international concerns. The PFIPC successfully interacted with foreign diplomats and international investors, presenting itself as a legitimate arm of the Nigerian state. Most damningly, Sowore highlighted that the supposedly fake council managed to secure a whopping ₦1.3 billion allocation in the official 2026 national budget.

This budgetary inclusion proves that the agency had deep roots within the federal administration`s financial planning machinery. It is impossible for a non-existent council to clear strict bureaucratic hurdles and secure over a billion naira without direct approval from top officials. For Sowore, the available paperwork exposes the "fake agency" defense as a convenient lie designed to protect complicit insiders.

Following Sowore`s public outcry, pressure is rapidly mounting as civic groups and citizens demand an independent judicial probe into the scandal. The activist maintained that real accountability cannot begin until the law is applied equally to all parties involved. He concluded that Femi Gbajabiamila must face the same legal scrutiny as his accuser, or the Tinubu administration will permanently stain its legacy with the biggest cover-up in recent history.
