Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have arrested a 49-year-old man, Balamau Lardi, for allegedly stabbing his wife during a violent domestic dispute.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Kurnyi Tudu Village in the Guyuk Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

According to an official statement released by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the suspect attacked his 37-year-old wife, Biyagwal Balamau, with a knife, inflicting severe injuries to the left side of her ribs.

Upon receiving a distress call, operatives attached to the Guyuk Divisional Police Headquarters swiftly mobilized to the scene. The police successfully rescued the victim and rushed her to a nearby medical facility, where she underwent emergency surgery and is currently responding to treatment.

The suspect was immediately taken into custody and remains at the divisional headquarters as preliminary investigations continue.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police for Adamawa State, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a heinous act of gender-based violence.

"The Command will not tolerate any form of domestic or gender-based violence within the state," CP Hassan warned.

To ensure justice is served, the Commissioner has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to immediately take over the case for a diligent investigation and subsequent prosecution.
