Divine Fulfilment as Onpetu Declares No Earthly Throne Greater Than Jesus, Accepting Royal Ambassadors Grand Patronship

It was an atmosphere of intense worship, divine alignment, and royal humility at the Oja Oba Baptist Church Auditorium on Sunday, 2nd August 2026, as His Royal Majesty, Oba Sunday Oladapo Oyediran Olagbami Osekun III, the Onpetu of Ijeru Kingdom, was officially invested as the Grand Patron of the Royal Ambassadors of Oja Oba Baptist Church,Lafihan and Ogunyale chapter.

THENEWSCREDIT reports that the high-profile spiritual and cultural event brought together prominent Christian leaders, traditional rulers, and members of the Nigerian Baptist Convention to witness what many described as a landmark day for the kingdom and the church body.

Delivering a powerful and deeply moving acceptance speech, Oba Oyediran stunned the congregation by revealing a supernatural backdrop to the honour. The monarch recounted a prophetic vision he received more than two years ago, precisely on February 21, 2024.

"In that vision, I saw myself being decorated with the Royal Ambassadors` insignia by the immediate past Vice-President (Ministerial) of the Nigerian Baptist Convention," the Oba shared. "When I woke up, I did not fully understand the significance... and with time, I almost forgot about it."

The King confessed that when his pastor, Rev. Dr John Fatunbi, approached him in April 2026 regarding the investiture, his initial instinct was to decline because he felt undeserving. However, a divine intervention changed his mind. "A few days later, the Holy Spirit reminded me of the vision God had given me in 2024. I immediately realised that this honour was not merely the decision of men but the fulfilment of God`s divine purpose," he stated.

Drawing inspiration from Romans 1:16, the Onpetu of Ijeru Kingdom firmly asserted his allegiance to Jesus Christ, setting aside royal pride to proclaim his faith.

"I want to declare before this congregation that I am not ashamed to be called a child of God, and I am equally not ashamed to be called a Baptist," the Monarch declared to a resounding ovation. "Jesus Christ is the foundation of my life, and by His grace, I will continue to serve Him faithfully wherever He places me."

In a profound theological reflection that resonated deeply with the audience, Oba Olagbami III reminded everyone of the transient nature of worldly power.

"No position on earth is great enough to take Jesus Christ away from us—not even the throne of an Oba. Every earthly throne is temporary, but the Kingdom of God is eternal. As Joshua boldly declared: `But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.`"

Accepting the mantle of Grand Patron, the Kabiyesi pledged his unalloyed support to the Royal Ambassadors—the boys` and young men`s faith-based missionary organisation of the Baptist Church. He charged them to remain steadfast, quoting 1 Timothy 4:12, urging the youths to be examples in word, conversation, charity, spirit, faith, and purity. He promised to actively back the group in its core mission of raising godly leaders, faithful disciples, and highly responsible citizens.

THENEWSCREDIT further gathered, the Monarch expressed his deepest appreciation to his wife and children, the National, Conference, and Local leadership of the Royal Ambassadors, and the Men’s Missionary Union (MMU) for their unwavering prayers. He poured accolades on his pastor, Rev. Dr John Fatunbi and family, alongside the entire leadership and members of Oja Oba Baptist Church.

Crucially, the Oba gave special thanks to the Onpetu Royal Family, his executive chiefs, and the Baales (village heads) for giving him the absolute peace and freedom to practice his Christian faith without compromise or hindrance.

The service concluded with special prayers of protection, wisdom, and long life for the King, as he steps into this elevated role of spiritual mentorship for the next generation.
