Sorrow Amid Rescue: How Terrorists Killed Second Oyo Teacher, Deacon John Olaleye
Published on Mon 13 Jul 2026 By Akintayo Asamu
A wave of grief and outrage has gripped Oyo State following the grim confirmation that two teachers abducted from Community High School, Esiele, in Oriire Local Government Area, were cold-bloodedly murdered by their captors. The tragic update was made public by the school’s Principal, Mrs. Rachael Folake Alamu, who broke weeks of anxious silence surrounding the fate of the school’s missing academic staff. According to Mrs. Alamu, the kidnappers deliberately executed the educators at different intervals during a grueling 56-day captivity period that has left the local community deeply traumatized. The first casualty was the school`s Mathematics teacher, Mr. M. Oyedokun, who was brutally killed by the bandits on just the second day of the abduction. The second victim, Deacon John Olaleye, survived for several weeks in the forest before he was murdered on the first Sunday of June 2026. The principal revealed that the captors openly confessed to killing the two teachers as a tactical strategy to terrorize the public and force the government to yield to their ransom demands. Local community leaders and professional teaching unions have strongly condemned the executions, labeling the incident a direct assault on the educational sector in the state. Security agencies have since launched a manhunt in the surrounding forests to track down the fleeing kidnappers and prevent future school raids in the region.
