A violent dispute over the sharing formula of a monetary gift has claimed the lives of two suspected street touts, popularly known as `area boys`, in the Ogunpa area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

The tragic incident, which occurred on Monday, degenerated into a physical brawl after a heated argument broke out between the duo over how to divide a sum of money given to them.

Sources revealed that the confrontation turned fatal when both individuals sustained severe injuries during the altercations. One of the individuals died instantly at the scene of the clash.

The second individual involved was rushed to a nearby hospital by onlookers. However, he succumbed to his injuries before receiving full medical attention.

Confirming the incident on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Oyo State Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, stated that an official investigation has been launched to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the violent clash.

"Yes, two persons stabbed themselves to death at Ogunpa over a mere argument, and an investigation has been launched into the mystery surrounding their deaths," Ayanlade said in a statement.
