Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has strongly criticized Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for comments interpreted as a mockery of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Reacting in a viral video on Sunday, Igboho characterized Governor Makinde`s recent stage-jumping demonstration as childish and disrespectful to the President. The activist warned that he would not tolerate any insults aimed at the nation’s leader. The controversy stems from an event on Thursday during a South-West town hall meeting in Akure, Ondo State. Makinde, who is contesting the 2027 presidential election under the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, leaped from the stage to demonstrate his physical fitness. Addressing the audience, Makinde argued that the upcoming election should focus on candidates` energy rather than age, challenging rivals to replicate his feat. Although the Oyo State Governor did not explicitly mention the President by name, political observers and critics widely interpreted the physical display and subsequent remarks as a direct jab at President Tinubu`s health and stamina. In his video response, Igboho condemned the display and defended the President, asserting that mocking elders is contrary to cultural values. He further declared that any future disparaging remarks directed at the President would be met with an equal response.
