Tragedy struck the Ogun State media community in the early hours of Sunday as unidentified gunmen invaded the Kobape residence of retired Ogun State Television (OGTV) broadcaster, Mrs. Kitan Oyesiku, killing her and her security guard. The assailants breached the compound in Iyana Agodo Village, Kobape, located in the Abeokuta area of the state capital, before escaping with the veteran broadcaster`s vehicle. The bodies of the victims were discovered following an alarm raised by a vigilant neighbor who noticed suspicious movements around the property. The Ogun State Police Command has launched a comprehensive investigation to track down the perpetrators. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed that detectives from the Owode Egba Division were immediately dispatched to the scene.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kwara Command, has arrested one AbdulRauf Ambali, 40 years old, over allegations of incest and unlawful sexual intercourse with his 14-year-old daughter. The NSCDC Commandant in Kwara, Mr Abbas Nda-Muhammed, disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday in Ilorin. “The suspect was apprehended following credible information received from concerned members of the public in Alapa, Asa Local Government Area of Kwara. “The matter was initially reported at the Alapa Divisional Office on June 16, and was subsequently transferred to the Command’s Gender Unit for comprehensive investigation,” he said. Nda-Mohammed said that the case was first brought to the attention of the Corps by the suspect himself, who reported that his 14 year-old daughter had been missing from home for three weeks. He said that the operatives of NSCDC Gender Unit immediately commenced investigation and successfully traced the minor. “During the course of interrogation, the girl disclosed that she had deliberately fled from her father’s residence after allegedly enduring months of sexual abuse and intimidation. “Preliminary findings revealed that the victim had lived with her grandmother since childhood before being taken into her father’s custody in December 2025 under the pretext of providing parental care and support. “The victim alleged that shortly after moving into his residence, her father began subjecting her to repeated sexual abuse,” he said. The commandant said that the victim was frequently threatened, beaten and intimidated whenever she resisted the suspect’s advances. He said that the abuse persisted until she could no longer endure the situation, prompting her to leave home without informing anyone of her whereabouts. Nda-Muhammed further revealed that the victim allegedly became pregnant in May, as a result of the repeated sexual abuse and the father took her to a private facility where the pregnancy was terminated. “The victim also alleged that she was repeatedly warned not to disclose the incidents to anyone and was later advised to undergo family planning measures to prevent future pregnancies. “In the course of investigation, the suspect reportedly admitted to having unlawful sexual relations with the minor,” he said. The commandant condemned the act, describing it as a heinous betrayal of parental responsibility and a grave violation of the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of a child. He reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Corps to the protection of all members of the society and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any criminal activities to security agencies.

Heavily armed bandits dressed in military camouflage have launched consecutive attacks along the Igbeti-Kishi and Igbeti-Igboho axes in Oyo State, leaving one person dead and four others severely injured. LOKOJA — Tragedy struck the Iluke-Bunu community in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State on Wednesday morning when heavily armed bandits stormed Government Secondary School, killing three people, including the school’s Vice Principal, Mr. Gani Anifowose. The audacity of the attack, which occurred at approximately 9:00 AM while students were actively writing the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), has thrown the entire local government area into a state of panic and mourning. Eyewitnesses reported that the terrorists, some disguised in military camouflage, marched into the community and directly targeted the school premises. Pandemonium broke out as students, invigilators, and residents scrambled for safety amidst a hail of gunfire. While the primary motive of the heavily armed invaders appeared to be a mass abduction of the WASSCE candidates, they met stiff resistance from local security networks. Tragically, before the attackers could be repelled, they shot and killed the Vice Principal, Mr. Anifowose, along with two other yet-to-be-identified members of the community. A bloodbath and a catastrophic mass kidnapping were narrowly averted thanks to the swift, coordinated response of the Nigerian Army troops stationed at the Suku-Kiri Bunu axis, working in tandem with local vigilantes and hunters. The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man identified as Musa Adamu, for allegedly attacking his girlfriend with a hammer, attempting to strangle her, and robbing her of ₦100,000 in Gombe. The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed in a statement that the suspect, a resident of Riyal Quarters, was arrested following a complaint lodged by the victim at the Pantami Divisional Police Headquarters. He said the victim reported that at about 2:00 a.m., the suspect allegedly gained unlawful access to her residence by scaling the fence and forcefully broke into her room. The statement said the victim sustained serious injuries during the attack and was immediately taken to a hospital after police operatives visited the scene, adding that upon receipt of the complaint, police operatives promptly visited the scene, while the victim was evacuated to a hospital for medical attention, where she was treated and later discharged. He said police recovered an iron hammer suspected to be stained with blood and a USB cable believed to have been used during the attack. The Command further revealed that preliminary investigations showed the suspect had earlier requested money from the victim, who is a businesswoman, but she declined. The suspect remained in police custody while investigations continue, adding that he will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation. Abdullahi reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged residents to promptly report suspicious persons and criminal activities to the nearest police station.

A man identified as Ofofon and his girlfriend were arrested by the police on Tuesday after they allegedly killed the friend of the man’s girlfriend and sold her body parts. The man, said to be from Ini Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State but residing at Afokang by Jebbs Street in Calabar South, killed and butchered the girl and delivered the body parts to buyers in the middle of the night. “The man’s girlfriend, who sells at a chemist on Monday, lured one of her friends to stay the night in their house, and at night, the duo killed the girl and butchered her into parts. They thought the rain that had been trying to fall would fall and sweep the blood away, but the rain did not fall again, so in the morning, the blood from the pipe in the apartment leading to the drain was filled with blood, and neighbours suspected something terrible had happened and called the police” Theresa, a resident of the area, told THENEWSCREDIT. She said a minibus picked up the man at about 2.00 am and brought him back that same night. “He owns three mini buses. One of those buses came to pick him up at about 2.00 am, apparently to deliver the body parts, and brought him back,” the source stated She said the girl claimed that the man locked her up in his room before killing the girl, but that could be just a statement to try to extricate herself from the murder. “The man had three kids from the ex-wife, but the woman took the children and ran away a long time ago, which shows that the man had been into evil practice business for a long time”. She said the man owns a provision shop up the same street and that “some time ago, he tried to use his mother for ritual, and the thing backfired. The mother then packed and went to live at State Avenue, a short distance away from the man, and does not visit him “ The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, confirmed the arrest of the couple over suspicion of murder. A High Court sitting in Awka, Anambra State, on Friday remanded eight pastors in a correctional centre after they were arraigned over alleged violations of the state’s Homeland Security Law, 2025, including hiring paid actors to stage “fake” miracles. The defendants are Pastors Ndubisi Nnachukwu of Omega Dominion Ministry; Ekeleme Ugochukwu of Cloud of Glory Prophetic Ministry; Bishop Emeka Nwamkpa of Chapel of Faith Ministry; Peter Chukwu of Messiah Adoration Ministry; Chinedu Egwuonwu of Citadel of Grace Ministry. Others are Ebele Nnachukwu of Jehovah the Mighty Than All Ministry; Miracle Iruoma of City of Power Ministry; and Chukwukadibia Ogwuama of Land of Testimony Adoration Ministry. The pastors were brought before the court by operatives of the state security outfit, Agunechemba, led by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Ken Emeakayi. In charge sheet numbers A/65C/26, A/55C/26, A/63C/26, A/64C/26, A/57C/26, A/60C/26, A/58C/26 and A/61C/26, the defendants were accused of wielding fake supernatural powers, using a religious place of worship for the commission of a crime contrary to Sections 18(3) and 19(1) of the Anambra State Homeland Security Law, 2025, and obtaining by false pretence contrary to Section 3(1) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud-Related Offences Act, LFN 2006. Some of the pastors, who pleaded not guilty, were arraigned before Justice Jude Obiorah alongside “agents” they allegedly used to procure persons who were paid to pretend they had been healed or delivered. According to the charges, the pastors obtained rewards from members of the public through the fake miracles they allegedly performed. The proof of evidence filed alongside the charges listed video-recorded confessions of the pastors as part of the evidence, with a flash drive attached, indicating that they confessed to the offences. After listening to all parties, Justice Obiorah ordered that the defendants be remanded in a correctional centre and adjourned the matter until June 15, 2026, for further hearing and motion for bail. Speaking with journalists shortly after the proceedings, the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN, who led the prosecution, said the confessional statements of the pastors formed part of the evidence frontloaded by the state. “The state intends to rely on these evidences. The charges are part of the efforts of the administration of the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, to nip in the bud, the practice of exploiting vulnerable members of the public through deception of staged miracles, just as the state is doing in its crackdown on fraudulent native doctors,” Nweke said. The arraignment comes amid the state government’s ongoing crackdown on individuals it describes as fake pastors, native doctors and spiritualists allegedly involved in activities that promote criminality.

A 45-year-old man, Yusuf Usman, has died after he became trapped inside a well in Kwa Town, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, while attempting to retrieve his mobile phone. The incident was contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi. The incident occurred on Wednesday at about 11:13 am, according to the statement. The Fire Service said it received a distress call from one of its staff, Kabiru Tata, after which rescue officers were swiftly deployed to the scene. “On arrival, the rescue team found the man inside a well that had been converted into a waste disposal pit,” the statement revealed. The victim reportedly entered the well to retrieve his phone after it fell inside but was unable to find a way to climb out. “The rescue team successfully brought him out of the well unconscious. He was later confirmed dead, reportedly due to oxygen depletion and heat inside the well,” the Fire Service said. The body was handed over to the Ward Head of Kwa Town, Alhaji Mukhtar.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested by police operatives in Ondo State for allegedly beating his 65-year-old father to death. Nsikak had engaged in a heated argument with his biological father, Peter Adone, at their residence in the Oda axis of the state. According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abayomi Jimoh, the deceased sustained severe injuries during the violent confrontation. The police spokesperson disclosed that Adone later succumbed to his wounds despite efforts by medical personnel to revive him. While stating that the remains of the deceased had been deposited in the morgue, Jimoh stressed that the son will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations. The PPRO said, “The tragic incident occurred in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State and has generated widespread concern among residents of the area. “Preliminary investigation revealed that on 28th May, 2026, the suspect allegedly engaged his father in a violent altercation which escalated into a physical assault. “Following a formal complaint lodged at the police station by one Daniel Moses, a son of the deceased and brother to the suspect, detectives promptly commenced investigation into the matter. Acting swiftly on the report, police operatives apprehended the suspect and took him into custody for questioning.”

The Osun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a driver involved in a hit-and-run accident that killed two policemen along the Osogbo/Gbongan road in Oogi community. The command’s spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, disclosed this while speaking with our correspondent on Thursday. He said the operatives, identified simply as Kehinde and Tobi, were travelling on a motorcycle when they were hit by a Lexus car on Wednesday in Oogi town. According to Ojelabi, the driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, abandoning the vehicle. “The two police operatives were travelling on a motorcycle when they got hit. One Lexus car hit them. Kehinde and Tobi are the two operatives involved,” he said. Ojelabi added that the police had recovered the Lexus car and the motorcycle involved in the crash and taken both vehicles into custody. “We have launched probe into the accident, and we are tracking the driver of the car. The vehicle and motorcycle involved have been recovered and taken to station,” he said. The police spokesperson further disclosed that one of the deceased operatives had been buried in accordance with Islamic rites. “We have commenced an investigation into the accident,” Ojelabi added.
