Anambra-based cleric Chukwuemeka "Odumeje" Ohanaemere has alleged that individuals publicly defending President Bola Tinubu’s administration are doing so due to financial inducements.

In a video circulating on social media, the controversial preacher strongly criticized the president`s recent remarks regarding hunger in the country. He accused Nigeria`s political class of prioritizing personal enrichment and family interests over the welfare of the citizens they were elected to serve.

According to Odumeje, public officials are merely custodians of public wealth and must manage the country`s resources for the collective benefit of all Nigerians. He further urged the electorate to utilize the 2027 general elections as a critical tool to hold elected officials accountable and reshape the nation`s political landscape.

The clergyman insisted that support for the current government is largely driven by personal gain rather than patriotism.

"Anyone you see singing praises for the current government is doing so because that person has been bribed," Odumeje stated. "Whether you forced your way into government or the people elected you, you are there to manage our resources, not your personal or family business. These resources belong to every Nigerian citizen, yet you tell them they have been hungry."

He slammed governors and senators who defended the president`s assertion that hunger existed in Nigeria long before his administration.

Odumeje declared that the 2027 polls will serve as a ultimate decider on whether Nigeria belongs to a select group of political elites or to the masses.

"In 2027, we shall decide if it’s you—the governor or senator—whose family owns Nigeria, or whether all of us own it. We are no longer boys; we are fathers," he said. He added that political figures supporting the president are actively selling out the future of Nigerian children for short-term financial gains.

He warned that many politicians plan to flee the country with accumulated wealth once their tenures expire, leaving ordinary citizens to bear the consequences of poor governance.

The cleric also raised concerns over the mounting external debts incurred by the Tinubu administration, demanding full transparency regarding all federal loans.

"The money you borrow, you borrow in all our names. You must account for it, because that debt falls on our heads and on the future of our children," Odumeje warned.

He concluded by advising leaders to communicate respectfully with the citizens, cautioning that if the political class has nothing meaningful to offer, the nation should consider a peaceful division. "The resources the president manages belong to you and me. You are not leading animals; you are leading people," he stated.
