The Adamawa State Police Command has smashed a three-man robbery gang, arresting a 20-year-old man for allegedly masterminding a midnight armed attack against his own mother. The shocking incident, which has left the local community in disbelief, highlights a disturbing trend of domestic betrayal and youth involvement in violent crime. 

The suspect reportedly conspired with two adult accomplices to invade his family residence in Wuro Kuturu, a community within the volatile Jimeta axis of Yola. Operating under the cover of darkness on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, the gang breached the home`s security to terrorise the matriarch and her household.

Armed with dangerous weapons, the suspects cornered the vulnerable mother and her other children. They forcefully dispossessed the victims of ₦200,000 in cash, alongside valuable personal electronics, including two mobile phones and a portable power bank, before fleeing into the night.

Confirming the incident in an official statement on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Sulaiman Nguroje, condemned the audacity of the crime. He identified the primary suspect as Aminu Adamu, 20, and named his co-conspirators as Adamu Mamman, 22, and Nuhu Umar, 22, all residents of the same Wuro-Kuturu neighborhood.

The swift breakthrough in the case followed a formal distress report lodged by the traumatised victim. Acting on actionable intelligence, operatives attached to the Karewa Area Command launched a targeted manhunt, successfully tracking down and apprehending all three suspects on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

A search conducted during the arrest led to the recovery of several incriminating exhibits used during the house invasion. Among the items seized by the police were a knife, pliers, scissors, an assortment of suspected hard drugs, and a significant quantity of Indian hemp.

SP Nguroje disclosed that the three suspects have cracked under interrogation and fully confessed to their roles in the robbery. Meanwhile, the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the case, vowing that the suspects will face diligent prosecution to serve as a deterrent to others.
