The Federal Government has guaranteed public servants that all outstanding wage awards will be credited before the middle of August. The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, delivered this assurance during a crucial consultative meeting in Abuja with labour leaders, spearheaded by Comrade Kabiru Minjibir, National President of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (JPSNC).

Oyedele disclosed that the Tinubu administration had proactively begun addressing critical worker welfare concerns even before receiving the council’s formal appeal. He reaffirmed the government’s firm commitment to keeping its promises to Nigerian workers, noting that the primary goal is to restore civil service confidence through continuous constructive dialogue.

A statement released by Efe Ovuakporie, Head of Information and Public Relations for the Federal Ministry of Finance, confirmed that the release of funds has reached its final stage. Director of Cash Management, Mrs. Christiana Osho, corroborated this by revealing that the reconciliation process for the outstanding wage awards is fully complete.

To prevent further delays, the Minister directed relevant ministry officials to immediately review the council’s entire submission and fast-track action on all pending worker matters. Oyedele openly acknowledged labor’s frustrations regarding previous implementation delays, pledging a new era of absolute transparency, consultation, and prompt administrative action.

Simultaneously, the Permanent Secretary of Finance, Mr. Raymond Omachi, announced that outstanding promotion arrears are being vigorously processed through approved statutory channels. He emphasized that the ministry is strictly collaborating with organized labour to ensure all legitimate entitlements bypass any future bureaucratic bottlenecks.

Providing further operational updates, the Permanent Secretary for Special Duties, Mr. Mohammed Danjuma, announced significant progress on long-standing worker entitlements. Specifically, he revealed that the previously omitted Batch 7 promotion arrears have now been recovered and are being actively processed alongside Batch 9.

Earlier, JPSNC leader Comrade Kabiru Minjibir had strongly urged the government to resolve the lingering friction points, including peculiar allowances and salary relativity for health workers. He concluded that swift, faithful execution of these payments is the only way to sustain national industrial harmony and boost civil servants` productivity.
