Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says he has forgiven former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose for his ‘sins,’ putting an end to the long political rift between the two Nigerian politicians. Obasanjo made this known when he spoke on Saturday at the well-attended 65th birthday celebration of Fayose held in Lagos. In a viral video, the former president said the occasion called for celebration, reflection, and correction. “You are not the best of my political children, but you have made achievements that must not be ignored. Even to get me to come here, you could not approach me directly. You sent Osita (Chidoka) to come and sound me out. When Osita, who also is a political child, came, I said, ‘Well, if he (Fayose) has sent you and you have delivered the message, then tell him that you have delivered the message.’ “So, you have asked for forgiveness, and as far as I’m concerned, you are forgiven. But the right lessons must be learnt,” Obasanjo said. Recall that the duo have not been on good terms since 2006, which had resulted in public insults.

A 27-year-old man, Chukwuebuka Eweni, has been taken into custody by New Orleans police after reportedly stabbing his father to death and injuring his two sisters in a domestic attack on Pebble Street. Family members told a local outlet, WWL Louisiana that the deceased, Samuel Eweni, was a computer sciences professor at Southern University at New Orleans. They also confirmed that the two injured victims were his daughters. Relatives described the incident as sudden and shocking, saying the suspect had a history of mental illness but had never been violent before. WWL Louisiana reports that one of the injured sisters has been released from hospital, while the other remains admitted but is expected to recover. The New Orleans Police Department also confirmed in a statement obtained by THENEWSCREDIT on Sunday that Eweni had been located in Jefferson Parish. “Chukwuebuka Eweni has been located in Jefferson Parish. “He is currently in law enforcement custody while undergoing medical evaluation at an area facility,” the police said in a statement. NOPD provided details of the incident, which occurred around 9:59 pm on November 11, 2025.

The Peoples Democratic Party, Southwest Zone, on Sunday lauded Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, for rescuing the party from aggressors determined to hold the largest opposition party by the jugular. PDP Southwest Zonal Publicity Secretary, Chief Sanya Atofarati, also commended PDP governors for standing firmly with the party to reposition it for victory in future elections. Atofarati, in a statement made available in Ado Ekiti, on Sunday, said, “The successful conduct of the PDP National Convention has restored the confidence of Nigerians who have long yearned for genuine democratic leadership.” The PDP Southwest hailed the newly elected national officers of the party, saying, “With the election of these eminent leaders into the National Executive Committee, the PDP can now focus without unnecessary distractions and begin galvanising support ahead of the 2027 general elections.” He added, “Governor Seyi Makinde has once again demonstrated exemplary leadership and must be commended for saving the party from total collapse. “He can best be described as the biblical Moses of the PDP, whose collaborative efforts with other well-meaning leaders have given the party a new lease of life. “While we congratulate all newly elected members of the NEC, we have unwavering confidence in their capacity to provide credible leadership that will entrench discipline and commitment to the ideals of the party.”

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has dissociated himself from the position of expelling the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Minister, Nyesom Wike, from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. The PDP expelled Wike, and a former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, from the party, for anti-party activities. The party also expelled the National Secretary of the party, Samuel Anyanwu, and eight others. The party took the decision at the national convention currently taking place in Ibadan, Oyo State. THENEWSCREDIT reports that the party unanimously voted to expel them for anti-party activities and fostering disunity with series of litigation against the interests of the party. The national convention, which is currently holding at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan, has delegates from 17 states across the country in attendance. A chieftain of the PDP, Bode George, moved the motion for the expulsion of 11 key members, citing what he described as activities inconsistent with the party’s collective interest as reasons for the move.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Neysom Wike, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Vice President, Kashim Shettima met at the birthday party of governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose in Lagos on Saturday. Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has mocked the ongoing convention of the Peoples Democratic Party taking place in Ibadan, Oyo State. The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has distanced himself from the Peoples Democratic Party’s decision to expel the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose; and several other party leaders. In a statement issued on Saturday by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, the governor clarified that the issue was never discussed by the PDP Governors’ Forum or the National Executive Committee before the motion for expulsion was presented. He stressed that the proposal does not reflect his position. The statement read, “The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has formally distanced himself from the expulsion of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Governor of Rivers State, Barr. Nyesom Wike, former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, and Senator Samuel Anyanwu, alongside other leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).” Mutfwang reiterated that the matter was neither deliberated upon by the Governors’ Forum nor the NEC before being brought to the convention floor.

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has directed that his body be buried within four weeks of his death. Fayose also set out detailed instructions for his burial, including a request that no one should visit after he is laid to rest. He stated that both his body and all burial arrangements should be handled by the Ekiti State Government. In a six-minute video shared on YouTube by City Edge TV on Saturday, Fayose, who turns 65 today, said, “Remember me for anything. And when I die, let me say this. Death is inevitable. My body belongs to the Ekiti State Government. I’m delivering a letter to the governor.”
