The Kano State Government’s N1.5 billion ‘Auren Gata’ mass wedding initiative has brought unexpected joy to Muntari Sani-Tofa, a 30-year-old hearing-impaired man who feared financial constraints would forever block his path to marriage.

Sani-Tofa, a resident of Tofa Local Government Area, successfully wedded his bride, Sa’adatu Musa, alongside 1,499 other couples in the massive state-sponsored event.

For the young groom, the wedding was far more than a routine ceremony; it represented the ultimate fulfilment of a life dream that he initially feared might remain entirely out of reach due to deep economic hardships.

The couple tied the knot under a structured welfare initiative specifically aimed at helping vulnerable individuals begin married life with immediate financial, economic, and household support.

In a written interview, Sani-Tofa expressed profound gratitude to Governor Abba Yusuf for giving him the rare opportunity to start a new family chapter, calling the massive intervention a true dream come true.

The groom holds a diploma in Sports and a professional certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation, and while he currently holds a 15-year appointment with the Kano State Sports Commission, he hopes to secure permanent employment.

His bride, Sa’adatu Musa, who holds a Senior Secondary School Certificate, is not hearing-impaired, making their union a beautiful symbol of inclusivity within the community.

Despite the celebration, Sani-Tofa appealed directly to the state government to provide permanent jobs and additional business capital, noting that many qualified beneficiaries still lack the long-term funds needed to sustain their new families.

Yunusa Sani, leader of the Hearing-Impaired Cluster, heavily praised the administration for including persons with disabilities, noting that the gesture has restored deep hope to vulnerable groups struggling with the high financial demands of traditional marriage.
