TEDE, OYO STATE – A wave of grief has swept through the farming community of Tede in Atisbo Local Government Area following the brutal murder of Mr. Abel Oyedokun Atilola, a 67-year-old retired teacher turned farmer.


The incident occurred on Monday, February 23, 2026, along Irawo Road, where Mr. Atilola was reportedly ambushed and gunned down by suspected bandits while tending to his farm.

Local residents have called for an increased security presence to protect farming communities. The police have launched an investigation to track down the fleeing suspects.

The Oyo State Police continue to urge residents in the Atisbo and Oriire axes to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals, particularly those with unexplained gunshot wounds, to the nearest station.
