Nigerian singer Skales has shared his opinion on the ongoing debate over who makes more money between footballers and musicians, stating that soccer stars have more stable incomes than their counterparts in the music industry. Speaking in a recent episode of the Groovymono show, the ‘Shake Body’ crooner explained that footballers don’t need to be starters for their clubs to make money, but on the contrary, it is only reigning musicians who make lots of money. He also noted that music money is seasonal, while football money is often interrupted for the period of the contract, regardless of any circumstance. “Football money is greater than music. The difference between music money and football money is that you don’t even have to be a big star or a starter in football to make money. “But music money is seasonal. An artist can be up today and down tomorrow. Artists who have been able to be stay relevant consistently are backed by the divine. “However, in football, even without being relevant you will still be making money. There are some footballers you don’t even know their names but they are earning well. Music is also crazy money but sports money is different,” he said.

Nollywood actress, Bolaji Ogunmola, has recounted the early challenges she faced in the film industry, saying she was often stereotyped and restricted to certain roles because of her appearance. “It was almost like they wanted to put me in a box. I am dark-skinned. There was a time when light-skinned people were reigning, and they told me I was very curvy and tried to limit me to ‘side chick’ roles,” she said in an interview with social media personality and content creator, Joseph Onaolapo, popularly known as Jay On-Air which started trending on Sunday. The actress, who once participated in the Next Movie Star reality show but did not make it into the final house, described her journey in the industry as difficult but consistent. “My journey has been crazy, but I have just kept at it,” she said. Ogunmola also spoke about her decision to venture into business early in her career, noting that she preferred entrepreneurship over traditional office jobs. “I just wanted my life to have meaning at that time. I am not somebody who likes to sit at home; I wanted to do something. I never wanted to do 9–5. I will not do 9–5, it’s not just me. Shoutout to people who do it, I applaud you. But for me, I am business-savvy like that,” she added. I have always been that kind of person, so I always have something else I am doing,” she said. Ogunmola also credited filmmaker Biodun Stephen for mentoring her on set, describing her as a major influence in her professional growth. “Before you lead, serve. A lot of the things I learnt were from other producers. Biodun Stephen was my first teacher when it comes to movie production. Every time I am on set, I am watching her,” she noted.

Controversial Nigerian singer, Speed Darlington, has faulted President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid following the economic situation of the country. The singer publicly criticised second term ambition in a video shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday. While questioning the president’s achievement since he assumed office in 2023, Darlington lamented the government policy failure, structural failure, economic miscalculation, and worsening insecurity. Popular Nollywood actor, Lateef Adedimeji, on Friday announced the arrival of his triplet sons with his wife and fellow actress, Adebimpe Oyebade, popularly known as Mo Bimpe. The actress who recently gave her life to Christ, revealed this part of her history while confessing during a ministration in Tanzania. Speaking about her journey in the movie and entertainment industry, Tonto claimed to have been involved in many demonic activities, noting that she dedicated her life to demons’ work. “The devil has lost this battle, I don’t care what you think, I don’t care what they say, this is God. Popular singer and rapper, Jesse Jagz Abaga has expressed concerns over the worsening economic hardship and escalating insecurity in the country. The ‘Bad Girl’ crooner said he can’t fathom the rationale behind the high level of corruption and maladministration among Nigeria’s political class. He said the failure of Nigerian politicians to provide amenities, such as medical facilities to their communities, is why a lot of the same politicians end up “dying like dogs” in foreign hospitals. Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has threatened fellow Yorubas with spiritual judgment if they do not vote for President Bola Tinubu in next year’s general elections. Speaking in a video broadcast, the Zazu crooner placed curses on any Yoruba who works against President Tinubu’s reelection. The singer claimed that he has been contracted by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to campaign for Tinubu. He said, “We need peace, we want peace. Two out of the three laboratories authorized by the Magistrate Court sitting in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, have declined paternity tests on late singer Mohbad’s alleged son, Liam. This comes amid the ongoing dispute between Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba and his widow, Wunmi. The court had independently picked Advanced Histopathology Laboratory Limited, London, United Kingdom while Wunmi submitted Alpha Bio Labs in Warrington, United Kingdom. Mohbad’s father picked DNA Diagnostics Centre, Fairfield, Ohio, US. However, in a statement on Thursday, the counsel to the singer’s father, Oladayo Ogungbe, disclosed that the two laboratories picked by Wunmi and the court have indicated that “they do not conduct post-mortem DNA testing involving embalmed bodies”. Ogungbe explained that Advanced Histopathology Laboratory Limited, London, United Kingdom, and Alpha Bio Labs, Warrington, United Kingdom, made this known after preliminary inquiries by Joseph Aloba’s representative to ascertain whether the listed laboratories possessed the technical capacity to conduct such test. Veteran Nigerian actor Abiodun Ayoyinka has revealed the challenges he has faced despite gaining widespread fame for portraying the iconic character Papa Ajasco. Ayoyinka made the revelation during an interview with media personality Lucky Udu, where he explained that the trademark ownership of the character has limited his opportunities outside the popular comedy franchise. According to the actor, the character Papa Ajasco is legally registered by the production company owned by Wale Adenuga, making it difficult for him to use the identity for personal projects or commercial engagements. He said the restriction has prevented him from appearing in advertisements or brand campaigns, even though many companies want him to appear in the famous costume and persona. “The major problem is that particular character has been registered by Wale Adenuga. Anybody that wants to use me outside wants me with the character, with everything that I have, but it has never been easy for me,” he said. Ayoyinka explained that he does not have exclusive rights to use the name or costume associated with the character. “I don’t have the right. I can’t use the name Papa Ajasco unless I go and take permission. I can’t even use the costume,” he said. He added that the strong public association with the character has made it difficult for him to secure opportunities as himself. “Because that character is very strong, they want to see me as Papa, dress like Papa, look like Papa. It is always difficult for me to do it.” The actor also disclosed that he previously worked with the Lagos State Government in the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture before retiring about five years ago. Despite his long career, Ayoyinka said life has been difficult in recent years. “Things have never been okay for years now. I retired five years ago, and it has never been easy for me to move around and connect with people,” he said. “I’m always thinking every day. Look at my home—I don’t have my own house. I don’t have a car.” Ayoyinka is widely known for playing Papa Ajasco in the long-running Nigerian comedy series Papa Ajasco & Company, a production of Wale Adenuga Productions that became one of Nigeria’s most popular television shows.
