Renowned Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Toyin Abraham-Ajeyemi, has opened up about her past battle with nicotine addiction, revealing that a marital ultimatum from her husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi, forced her to quit smoking.

Speaking as a guest on the latest episode of The Morayo Show, the award-winning producer disclosed that her husband threatened to walk out of the marriage if she did not abandon her heavy cigarette habit.

Driven by the desire to preserve her home, Abraham chose her marriage over the addiction. She, however, admitted that while she has successfully ditched cigarettes, she has transitioned to vaping.

"My husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi, is one of the best things that ever happened to me," the actress stated during the interview. "He lets me shine and be me. I used to be a cigarette addict, but he warned me that if I didn’t stop smoking, our marriage wouldn’t work. I had to stop because I valued my marriage. Well, I have stopped cigarettes, but I still vape."

Defending her husband against potential criticism, the box-office queen clarified that Ajeyemi is far from controlling. Instead, she described him as a supportive partner who prioritises her well-being while allowing her the freedom to pursue her happiness safely.
