Ogbomoso 2026: Rev. Niyi Adebayo Urges Political Accountability, Warns Against Media Attacks on Traditional Institutions

Published on Wed 25 Mar 2026

The Lead Pastor of True Worshipper Church (TWC), Rev. (Dr) Niyi Adebayo, has called for a new era of political accountability and social decorum in Ogbomosoland, describing the upcoming 2026 political cycle as a "defining moment" for the city.

In a wide-ranging address, the cleric cautioned residents against using social media to insult traditional rulers or ignite religious tensions, while simultaneously challenging the electorate to demand "social audits" from all political aspirants.

Rev. Adebayo expressed deep concern over the rising trend of "media jabs" and campaigns of calumny directed at the Soun of Ogbomosoland and other traditional leaders. He warned that such actions threaten the city`s unity and cultural heritage.

"Ogbomoso must be better, not bitter," the cleric stated. "I appeal to our youths and digital influencers to stop the insults. Whatever is written today will not be forgotten. Let us use our platforms for positive projection rather than fueling religious or traditional crises."

Turning his attention to the political landscape, Rev. Adebayo urged community leaders and voters to look beyond financial inducements. He advocated for a rigorous vetting process—a "Social Audit"—to evaluate the past performance and integrity of those seeking office.

He called on political parties to field candidates with proven pedigrees and a genuine sense of patriotism.

The cleric encouraged voters to ask hard questions: "What has this person done for the community? Are they accessible and responsible?"

"Money is not everything," he cautioned. "The destiny of Ogbomosoland is worth more than temporary gains."

The cleric’s message of unity is backed by the church’s ongoing humanitarian work, notably the "Jesus Market", which continues to provide subsidized food and relief to Ogbomoso residents during economic hardships.

Adebayo, a recent recipient of an honorary Doctorate in Ministry, reaffirmed his commitment to the city’s progress, insisting that Ogbomoso’s civilized and globally-exposed population deserves leadership and media representation that reflects its true stature.
