Ramadan Respect: Kano Shuts Down Event Centres and Entertainment Hubs.

 To ensure a serene atmosphere for the holy month, the Kano State Censorship Board has announced the immediate suspension of all entertainment activities across the state. This includes event centres (gala houses) and Disc Jockey (DJ) services. 

 The directive
effective take from Wednesday, 18 February 2026, starting at 10:00 p.m." the statement said. 

The closure remains in force throughout the entire fasting period of Ramadan.

According to Board PRO Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, the move aims to minimize distractions and allow residents to focus on their religious obligations in a peaceful environment. 

The Board emphasized that this measure is consistent with its legal mandate to regulate entertainment. While the venues are currently locked, a reopening date—specifically for the Eid celebrations—will be communicated as the month concludes.

Officials have called on all stakeholders to comply strictly with the order, offering prayers for a blessed and healthy Ramadan for all citizens.
